Have a book you love but its cover is dogeared and has seen better days? Make a denim cover for it with those old jeans you’re no longer wearing! That’s what Madge at The Impatient Crafter did and it turned out really cute!
She even decorated the front with paint, giving it an artsy feel. My favorite part has to be the pocket, though. I love the pocket! It would totally come in handy for stowing away a bookmark or even a pencil for jotting down a note or two as you’re reading.
You’ll find all the directions to make your own denim book cover at Madge’s blog here: Make a Denim Book Cover from Recycled Jeans
I like to give journals as gifts and think the denim cover with pocket would really jazz them up.
Love that idea, Sandra! You could even tuck a little snowflake ornament down inside. 🙂
I can’t believe how many creative ways you have come up with using old jeans. From now on, I’ll be looking at the thrift stores for old jeans. I love the idea of a pencil holder on front of book cover. That could be useful for me. Also a small cluth bag the size of a make-up bag would also be useful. I have to carry my DH diabetic supplies with us when we know we might be out during lunch time. Right now, I am carrying a clear, plastic pencil case that I found in a dollar store with cartoon pictures on it. Hey, it only cost $1 plus tax..The denium would probably be softer to handle instead of the plastic and more flexable.
It really is amazing, Betty! I’ve been surprised at all the creative projects I’ve found! 🙂
