When I don’t forget and leave them in the car, I love using some sturdy shopping bags I have for bringing home groceries from the market. They hold so much more than those thin, flimsy plastic bags they typically use in grocery stores and you don’t have to worry about them tearing when you’re half way across the parking lot.
I am tickled to feature this fabulous tutorial from Instructables for making a denim shopping bag from recycled jeans. The author of the tutorial, Weiblen wrote, “Keep your sentimental old blue jeans, give them new life, and help the environment at the same time.” Sounds like a win, win!
When you check out the tutorial, be sure to scroll down to the comment section underneath. Another reader made the bag using the tutorial and she changed it up a bit using two pairs of jeans so she could make the sides a bit wider. I really like how her bag turned out.
Another reader suggested (in the comments) that the handles could be designed to go down and under the bag to give it extra strength for heavy groceries. Great suggestions in the comments on that tutorial post!
